Manufacturer Identification Code (MID) Generator
The MID (Manufacturer Identification Code) is required for U.S. Customs entry filings. It is built from the manufacturer's country, name, address, and city according to specific rules.
MID Generation Rules (per FedEx Official Guide)
- Country Code：Use the 2-letter ISO country code of the manufacturer's country, e.g. CN for China.
- Manufacturer Name：Up to 6 characters. For a single-word name, take its first 3 letters; for names with two or more words, take the first 3 letters of each of the first two words.
- Address Line：Up to 4 characters. Take the largest street number in the address (up to 4 digits); if the address has no number, take the first 4 letters of the first word of the street name.
- City：Up to 3 characters. Take the first 3 letters of the city name, e.g. SHA for Shanghai.
General Rules
- Ignore all punctuation, such as hyphens and periods.
- Ignore articles and prepositions such as a, an, and, of, the, as well as single-letter words.
- Use the name and address of the manufacturer (factory), not a branch or sales office.
- For non-English-speaking countries, names and cities may be written in Pinyin.

What Is a MID Code?
The MID (Manufacturer Identification Code) is used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to identify the manufacturer of imported goods. It appears on entry documents submitted to CBP, FDA, USDA, and other agencies.
Textiles, apparel, and FDA-regulated goods usually require a MID code; a missing or invalid MID can cause customs delays or even rejection.
Structure example:CN + ABCCO + 1234 + SHA → CNABCCO1234SHA（Country + Manufacturer Name + Address Number + City）
